Former Finance Minister Arben Malaj stated that the current political situation in Albania resembles what Italy went through during Operation "Clean Hands" in the 1990s. Malaj cited the case of former Italian Prime Minister Bettino Craxi as an example.
" Today's Albania is compared to the critical situation that Italy went through with 'Clean Hands', when it was forced to lift the immunity of its prime minister, Bettino Craxi, who was respected as an economist in Italy, but due to corruption charges was forced to leave the country, go to Tunisia and leave a will that his grave would overlook Italy, but that he would never be taken to Italy unless he was declared innocent ," Malaj said.
He emphasized that abuse of power, in his opinion, always has consequences.
" Abuse of power always has an end. I mentioned a case of an Italian political figure, praised for economic reform and the development of the country, but due to corruption he fled to Tunisia. Like Gruevski who fled to Hungary ," the former Finance Minister added on "A2 CNN".
