The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has sent a clear message to the corrupt. Justice is one of the reforms for which the USA does not negotiate, and Blinken made it clear today in the meetings he had in Tirana.
The Secretary of State had a short meeting with the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani and representatives of justice, while at the press conference with Rama he made it clear that justice is key for them. He said that the reform is underway and the Americans will support it until the end.
" The reform in justice has not been simple and quick. We are starting to see results. I have met with prosecutors and judges and it is important that the members of organized crime are going to court proceedings and this process is going on. We will support Albania in these steps ", he said.
At the joint press conference, he praised Albania's role in the international arena. Blinken said that as a key ally in NATO or the Security Council at the UN, there is an extraordinary partnership cooperation.
" This partnership between our two countries is stronger than it has ever been and the relationship is critical for us to address some issues that are crucial for our two peoples and this is a two-way street. We are doing things with each other and for each other, and as a key NATO ally and a key voice in the UN Security Council, we have an extraordinary relationship with Albania ," he said.
Blinken said that the focus of the conversation was also Ukraine. According to him, the situation there is important for everyone. Security was also in focus, as he appreciated the support for Ukraine.
" We also talked about many issues and challenges we face and focused on what we are doing to advance security. Albania has been a strong supporter of Ukraine, it was the first country to send military aid, weapons and ammunition. It is currently one of the top 10 contributors to per capita income for Ukraine. We are also talking about the security partnership between our countries ," said Blinken.
He mentioned the base of Kuçova, where he said that all NATO members will be committed to protect each member state. Blinken said the air base will be inaugurated very soon.
" We had the opportunity to discuss many issues. We are focused on what we can do to promote safety. Albania was the first to raise its hand to help Ukraine. The first that military aid has taken. Currently, it is one of the top 10 contributors to aid for Ukraine.
Throughout its 15 years, Albania has made significant contributions to the alliance. Next month, Albania will inaugurate the military base in Kuçovo. Our allies, who are 30 and will soon be 32, have the iron will to help each other. Our alliance is stronger, because of the prosperity we share, we are happy that Albania continues to do its part ", he said.
When asked if there will be a NATO naval base in the port of Durrës, Blinken replied that he had spoken with Rama about this.
" It is important to underline that 15 years have passed since Albania became a NATO ally. It will be inaugurated just a few weeks later. We emphasize the commitment that Albania has made. For the naval base, it is something we have discussed ," he said.
Blinken mentioned cyber attack and US military support for our country. He also thanked the Afghans for their hospitality. He also stopped at justice, where he said that justice reform is key for them, sending a message to the corrupt and the enemies of justice reform. / Pamphlet
