"Mundësia" party MP Erald Kapri, during an interpellation today in Parliament with the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, requested transparency for the Corridor VIII and Porto Romano projects.
The MP from the "Mundësia" party raised concerns about the lack of clarifications regarding the departure of foreign companies and allegations of interference by external factors in this strategic project.
He emphasized the economic and security importance of Corridor VIII for Albania, describing it as one of the most important investments for the country's European integration. The MP demanded concrete answers on the costs, process and possible external impacts on the project's implementation.
"I was impressed by your Olympic calm, where everything you just said is being investigated by justice. Corridor VIII is the largest economic project in the Albanian world. Ultimately, this corridor brings Albania into the European economy. Corridor VIII increases Albanian security. The point is that it seems incredible that you are talking about a port 3 times larger, while in the project the cost was smaller. You mentioned that a study was done with foreign companies, but you did not give any explanations why the large companies left. The point is that you did not give another explanation related to the security part, which the prime minister made an issue of, where he said that we have had foreign interventions that do not want the port, but we will do it. We want transparency about who these foreign countries were. Not only do you not take it seriously. Albanians lost 8 million euros, something was played.
"You have not made the project transparent. This is a signal from our allies who are telling us to come to our senses. Explain to us who these foreign forces are that are intervening in Albania, to stop this great project. There is no more important project than Corridor VIII," said Erald Kapri.
