DP MP Oerd Bylykbashi, commenting on President Donald Trump's extension of the state of emergency for the Western Balkans, said that alarm bells are ringing for drug cartels and organized crime linked to the government.
In an interview with Syri TV, Bylykbashi emphasized that Trump has called for the destruction of the cartels.
"I would say something more that did not call for an investigation, but for the destruction of drug cartels in Albania. The director of ICITAP, which is one of the important organizations of the American executive in the field of law enforcement and with representatives at the American embassy in Tirana, conveyed the message of the Attorney General, one of the main figures of President Trump's Administration. So the message for the destruction of drug cartels in Albania.
Now the entire Balkans is problematic, but this message was given here in Albania. Because Albania has become an extraordinary platform for the big drug cartels, those that bring heroin, those that bring cocaine to Europe or even to the US.
And of course, cartels of this type, organizations of this type, also create a risk for security, not only in terms of Albania, but also beyond.
"Organized crime, linked to the government and therefore proven continuously, on May 11 showed the internationals how much it exists, because they were not hiding, but were in the voting centers as we saw in Durrës, Elbasan, Tirana and Vora," said Bylykbashi.
