The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted after the statements of Prime Minister Rama, who stated in his podcast that Albania is closer than ever to integration into the European Union.
In a video message published on social networks, Berisha accused Rama of avoiding the report of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee on Albania in Sunday's monologue, a document that, according to him, contains strong criticism of the Albanian government.
"The report labels the elections as a process in which the line between state institutions and party structures was blurred, votes were bought, illegal financing. The lack of role of parliament in the integration process is raised while it is required to have a central role. The government's attitude towards minorities and the media is denounced. Towards Albanian children, half of whom live excluded and at risk of poverty," said Berisha.
Berisha also focused on the criticisms that the report addresses towards the "Open Balkans" initiative, which he described as an attempt to damage Albania's European integration process.
"The open Balkans and the Vučić-Rama letter are strongly condemned as an attempt to undermine the integration process. Rama hid a fundamental EU document on Albania and did not utter a single word about the IBAR report. For months, new conditions and demands have been added to Albania by member states," Berisha declared.
In his reaction, the former prime minister also mocked Rama's statements about the media and startups, accusing him of controlling most of the media in the country and using propaganda to influence public opinion.
