Former prime minister Sali Berisha reacted for the first time in an urgent press conference after the arrest of his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, and the decision against him as a defendant.
According to Berisha, the son-in-law Malltezi was arrested in Rinas while he was waiting for his wife, Argita.
"Not even my restriction to move in Albania. I am a deputy and I have the right to meet the voters.
Voters today feel more strongly about Sali Berisha than ever. Even my restriction to move to Europe cannot happen without the approval of the relevant parliamentary committees. The prosecution, section I of the SP, can take any decision.
Accusations of passive corruption and money laundering have been brought against me. While my son-in-law was detained at the airport today, he was waiting for his wife who was returning from abroad. He was detained without ever being questioned by any prosecutor or judge. The accusations are baseless and genuine political attacks on Edi Rama and not only him," says Berisha.
