Democratic MP Lefter Gështenja said that regarding the arrest of Jamabër Malltez, when justice speaks, politics should be silent.
"When justice speaks, politics must be silent. Let's leave it to time and judge in a second moment on this issue. I don't believe it will weaken the action of the opposition, since it is not related to a person. An action was born and there are several meetings of the united opposition to have a functional and strong opposition in the assembly.
This group was not chaired by Berisha, as the meetings were called by Gazment Bardhi, who is the head of the parliamentary group, as he is our representative at these tables. The meetings called were made by Bardhi. He has notified all the deputies to be part of these discussions," he told Ora News.
The Special Court has set a security measure for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, in the framework of the investigations launched by the Special Prosecutor's Office for the privatization of the "Partizani" sports complex.
For Berisha, the security measure "obligation to appear" and "exit ban outside the country" has been set.
Also, at the request of SPAK for the same case, Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, was also arrested on Saturday evening, and the security measure "prison arrest" was set for businessman Fatmir Bekteshi.
SPAK has started investigations on this issue after a report made by Taulant Balla in 2020, then the chairman of the socialist parliamentary group. In the report, Balla accuses Berisha, Malltez, the former Minister of Defense, Arben Imami, and several other ministers of the Berisha government from 2005-2013.
