Critical voices in the Socialist Party risk remaining an instrument of the Prime Minister's stability if they do not demand a real change of power and the end of the clientelist model...
Recently, critical voices have begun to emerge within the Socialist Party, even publicly. Although timidly, these voices are adding, almost consistently, to the path of a revival that requires political changes within the majority.
These voices are represented more by a well-known name in the history of the Socialist Party, Petro Koçi, while there are also others who, in their own ways, have come out openly in putting forward ideas for change.
In addition to Petro Koçi, one of these voices is Thoma Gëllçi, the former director of RTSH, who periodically publishes quite harsh opinions against the government in the media.
Another critical voice is the former head of FRESSH, several times minister and most recently former head of AKEP, Ilir Zela. Meanwhile, Erion Braçe, the most popular SP MP, also occasionally harshly criticizes various government leaders, mainly the Tirana Municipality.
In fact, the situation within the Socialist Party, or even the groups within it, has long been problematic, as a result of dissatisfaction and lack of motivation from Edi Rama. A dissatisfaction that occasionally surfaces on social networks, where these angers turn into angry retorts, such as the one between Piro Lutaj and Erion Braçe.
All this dissatisfaction and frustration is not artificial or superficial. It is a picture that did not arise today, nor did it happen for any particular reason.
We are dealing with a real, more than critical situation of many socialists who are employed, but who do not feel valued and motivated. Meanwhile, like the rest of the public, they are revolted by the connection of power with crime and by the corruption of high-ranking officials.
However, this way of presenting criticism, as is happening these days, seems too anemic to have the right effect, either for the left itself or for society.
Criticisms like those raised by Petro Koçi or others, that changes are made simply by moving around in Edi Rama's cabinet, are just tickling the ears of the prime minister.
They even favor him in the face of opponents and internationals, to show them that in his party and in society there is a healthy democratic environment, where the leader is criticized and there is no negative reaction.
The fact that this dissatisfaction exists has its causes in the autocratic, closed and completely non-collegial manner of Edi Rama, both in government, but also within the SP.
The appropriate move to represent this dissatisfaction and frustration of the left is to clearly address the culprit, as well as demand for a new model of governance and policymaking.
A request which, as a first point, should have had the immediate termination of Edi Rama's leadership of the government, as the main opportunity to calm the situation.
Thus creating the premises of a normal mandate, towards fulfilling the requirements needed to close negotiations with the EU. Edi Rama has today become a problematic and inhibiting factor; therefore, his critics in the Socialist Party must emerge from the illusions of superficial changes.
Today, the Socialist Party must stop importing figures and officials with "catapults" from Edi Rama, just as it is preparing to catapult his successor in the first days of 2026.
A maneuver prepared with a diabolical agenda, program and political itinerary. An agenda that does not essentially constitute any real change, but everything is, as has happened until now, a facade./ Pamphlet
