After the lawsuit against Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the McGonigal affair, Gazment Bardhi today requested information from the Special Prosecutor's Office about the investigations.
The Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, in January of this year, criminally charged Edi Rama regarding the McGonigal affair, presenting data on the commission of 4 criminal offences: 1. Active corruption of foreign public servants; 2. False declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants; 3. Cleaning the products of the criminal offense or criminal activity; 4. Structured criminal group and the commission of the criminal offense by the structured criminal group.
After the admission of guilt by Charles F. McGonigal, today Gazment Bardhi addressed an official request to SPAK where he officially informs him about the developments in American justice on this issue and requesting information about the progress of the investigations in Albania.
"The admission of guilt by the American citizen Charles F. McGonigal connects the latter with the illegal actions and omissions of the citizen Edi Rama, who is the prime minister of Albania. In addition to the black payment to start a fake investigation against the political opponents of the Prime Minister, which clearly constitutes active corruption of foreign officials, it turns out that during the testimony for the admission of guilt, Charles F. McGonigal explained that he created the relationship with Edi Rama for business effect", writes Bardhi in the letter addressed to SPAK.
Gazment Bardhi requests information from SPAK, which it asks to keep the investigative secret, but of course to clarify the stage in which the investigation is located. "Following the legal procedures followed in the United States of America in relation to this matter, occurred before the reasonable suspicions about the commission by the citizen Edi Rama of the criminal offenses reported by us, pursuant to Article 110 of the Criminal Code. "Criminally, we ask to be informed about the progress of the investigation of this case at the Prosecutor's Office that you lead, while maintaining and without violating investigative secrecy," the letter says.
So far, there is no official information from SPAK whether or not it has requested from the American judiciary a copy of the file and whether it has started investigations against Prime Minister Edi Rama in Albania.
