In a press conference from the Prime Minister's Office, the head of the government, Edi Rama, said that it is the first time that justice acts on its own and not according to orders from politics.
He declared that he supports the work of justice unconditionally, as he added that SPAK is the first independent justice structure in the history of the Albanian state.
"First, SPAK has aroused many controversies, as can be seen, because SPAK has stirred a stagnant water of 100 or so years. It is the first time in the history of the Albanian state that there is a prosecutor's office, a group of prosecutors, that does what their mind tells them, it never existed until it was created. The prosecutors and the prosecution did what the executive power told them. SPAK has created many controversies, from those who say they are the saviors of the nation, to those who say it is a tool of repression used by Rama. These second ones, I understand that they are in trouble, but I can't help them. SPAK is the first independent justice structure in the history of the Albanian state.
I personally think that my duty is for the government to support SPAK unconditionally. Unconditionally, it means that even when we may have things to say, we close our mouths, because we become part of a controversy that does not help SPAK to do its job. In the future, time will tell us how much and how things are progressing and whether they can be made even better ", emphasized Rama.
While asked if he knows that SPAK has opened a case for January 21 again, Rama stated that he still does not have such information, as he emphasized that he hopes that SPAK will start the investigation as soon as possible.
" In my memory, when January 21st happened, I had black hair, now I have completely white hair. As you see it. One of the good things about this inevitable evil is that I have learned something that even my late mother never thought I would ever learn. It's patience.
Just as we have no instrument to stop people from going crazy or lighting flares in the assembly, or playing like children. So we don't have any instrument and the only instrument is patience" , said Rama.
