Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked about former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's accusations that his daughter and brother-in-law received tenders.
During a communication with journalists, Rama denied the accusations, stressing that they have not earned a penny from public funds. Rama said that no member of his family has ever benefited from public funds.
As for the expenses for the flights, Rama said that he travels like all ordinary Albanians with airliners, adding that when he is accompanied by his wife or children, everyone pays for the ticket.
"You put me in a bit of a difficult position. Because while I am not inclined to answer the accusations of someone who is the subject of the blacklists of the USA and Great Britain for corruption and undermining democracy and the subject of justice in Albania , for reasons you know.
The answer is very simple: Never! Never! In no case has any member of my family benefited a single penny from public funds. And not only that, but since you are giving me this opportunity, I will teach everyone and those who might be impressed by the absurd accusation of the millions of euros spent on flights that I and family members traveling with me travel on two ways. In cases of official or work visits, with the relevant plane and in all other cases with scheduled planes like all Albanians, economically and at my own expense and that of the family," said Rama .
