Loyalists in prison, on the run or forgotten, the story of Rama's 13-year purge
In 2023, when he came to power, Edi Rama gathered behind him many important figures of the Socialist Party, but not only that. Today, after 13 years at the head of the government, he is surrounded by Zegjinets and Sarats, after he has alienated all his loyalists.
Yesterday, Engjëll Agaçi, who has done all the Prime Minister's dirty work, also left. Vali Bizhga also left as Chief of Staff, and Rama replaced both of them with little-known figures.
Agaçi and Bizhga are the last of a long list of characters whom Rama has brought closer when needed and then pushed away.
In 2013, Rama dismissed Arben Malaj, one of the most valuable figures in the Socialist Party and with a distinguished contribution to politics and finance. Malaj was later elected a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, but Rama's revenge was so bad that he intervened and fired him.
But the deepest purge occurred in 2017, after Rama removed all critics, starting with Ben Blushi, Arta Dade, Valentina Leskaj, Namik Dokle, Koço Kokëdhima, Mimoza Hafizi, etc.
While in 2021, Rama dismissed Ditmir Bushati, Gramoz Ruçi, Musa Ulqini, Anastas Angjeli, Spartak Braho, etc.
While in 2023, he removed Pandeli Majko and Mimi Kodheli, two figures with long careers in the SP.
The figures above have made significant contributions to the SP. But there are many others who were close to Edi Rama and today are either in prison, on the run, or forgotten somewhere.
Saimir Tahiri has been one of Rama's most valued people. But he was his first victim in the government. Rama also attacked and even imprisoned Shpëtim Gjika of Vlorë, with whom he had "brotherly" relations. This clash then continued with Dritan Leli, where there were endless clashes and tensions. Rama tried to hit him through justice, but could not catch him in the act.
Arben Ahmetaj is another important figure. Ahmetaj was one of Rama's closest people, but when it came to it, the prime minister removed him and tried to throw him in the mouth of the new justice system. Unlike the others, Ahmetaj understood the scheme and left. Erion Veliaj is the next example. Rama also had very good relations with him, but in the end he "fished" him to SPAK. The other name is Belinda Balluku, where the signals are that Rama is following the same scheme, but we will have to wait.
Not to mention Lefter Koka, Safet Gjici and a large number of mayors or officials who have ended up under investigation or in prison. So today, Edi Rama is left with only Zegjineja and Sara Mila, after Erion Braçe also came out against him.

Garderoba e Bashkisë Tiranë. Ca të bler te tregu i Gabit. Ca të dhuruara nga paraardhësi: na meri se nuk më vijnë pas trupit. Nuk ka larguar askënd Rama. Edi Rama është polici i keq. Të gjithë të ikurit me përjashtime të rralla, janë pjesë e establishmentit të korruptuar dhe të degjeneruar. Kush nga këta ka bër betejë publike dhe konsistente ? Me përjashtime të rralla. A nuk i kanë fëmijët, nipërit , mbesat dhe farë e fisninë në ball të aksioneve ku bëhet yxhym për përfitime të jashtë ligjëshme? Kur të bjer Edi Rama, disa nga këta, do ndajnë qelinë me të. Ajo që rëndom përcillet nga një tavolinë te tjetra dhe nga një ambient te tjetri është: hetim pasuror dhe konfiskim pasurije, për pasuri të vëna gjatë ushtrimit të detyrës, në rrugë të paligjshme. Nga kongresi i 10 i PPSH te Rilindja e saj me Palloshin në krye, kjo është rruga e trashëgimisë politike e cila e mbyll kapitullin e saj me turp.
