The Speaker of the Parliament Lindita Nikolla was received today at the Department of State by Gabriel Escobar, Assistant Secretary of State and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans. Nikola and Assistant Secretary Escobar discussed the progress of democratization and integration reforms and the support of the Assembly for their advancement.
"The relations between Albania and the USA today are better than ever. The strategic partnership has been concretized in the excellent cooperation in the UNSC and will be so in the UNSC as well. The USA wants to have Albania as a partner and supports its application in as many international organizations as possible. The US strongly supports the integration of Albania in the EU, appreciates the achievements so far and encourages the deepening of the fight against corruption" , writes Nikolla on "Facebook".
In her post, Nikolla also says that the USA, which Escobar described as the most pro-Kosovo country in the world, is determined to protect the independence, sovereignty, integrity and security of Kosovo and its acceptance in international organizations.
"The US has condemned the terrorist act of September 24 and Serbia's responsibility for this act. The Ohrid Agreement is a strategic agreement and work must be done to implement it. The US supports the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue facilitated by the EU, as the only path to peace and security, and is working for its recognition even by the five EU states that have not recognized it and is building a global recognition campaign for Kosovo," he says .
