The former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, in an interview for the "Breaking" show, said that the tragedy of Gërdec has been used politically for 15 years.
"For 15 years this has been used politically, using this great disaster. The process was initiated without a legal basis. They didn't call the officials we have to testify".
Mediu has been charged with abuse of office for the Gërdec tragedy, but this charge, according to him, has nothing to do with the incident.
"How much logical basis does this accusation have? Abuse of duty has nothing to do with what happened in Gërdec. The transport charge is not even related to that disaster. However, these are part of the country and the manipulations that take place, unfortunately also legal", he said.
Mediu emphasized that a full investigation of the tragedy is needed and explained why he is looking for all the information that SHISH and the Presidency have about Gërdec.
"If we want to investigate an event related to national security, it is important that the Prosecutor's Office conducts a full investigation. Often, what I have said has been taken as personal views. In order to have full transparency in the service of the truth, I have asked SISH and Pres to make available to me all the information they had about the incident in Gërdec.
Any sale of ammunition and any other information in the Armed Forces is periodically sent to the Presidency, the Prime Minister and other institutions", he said.
