Edi Rama has replaced the tambourine of Tallava with the aheng, while Sali Berisha is in the schemes of 2005
The campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections has officially begun, while Edi Rama and Sali Berisha have held opening rallies. The biggest innovation of the May 11 elections is the vote of immigrants, which constitutes a separate army and could create the chances of political rotation. But what does not favor this rotation is the fragmentation of votes against Edi Rama, this is due to the fact that beyond the coalition led by Sali Berisha, there are several other entities, new and old, that compete alone and are not favored by the electoral system.
The Democrats and their allies gathered in the 'Greater Albania Alliance' coalition opened the campaign in 'Mother Teresa' Square on Friday evening, where the speech of Chris LaCivita, the American campaign strategist who has also taken over Berisha's Democrats, was of interest. But LaCivita's speech did not last more than 35-40 seconds.
The Democrat rally was a spectacle similar to previous campaigns from 2005 onwards. Almost the same choreography, with a group of young people standing on a podium and also the candidates for MPs climbing on it.
The only change or novelty of the opening rally of the Democrats and their allies were the red hats, a symbol from Donald Trump's campaign in the US, and LaCivita with the short speech he gave. The rest was the same as the campaigns of the last 20 years, where citizens took the floor to convey pre-prepared messages and as always the rally was closed by Sali Berisha.
Edi Rama's Socialists opened the campaign in Skanderbeg Square, where it seems that the Prime Minister had taken care of the details by combining the traditional rhythm according to the 12 regions, with political messages given by political leaders delegated throughout the country.
Unlike the last two campaigns, where once he appeared with tambourines and tallava songs and in the other he sought the wheel and the pan alone, this time Edi Rama has chosen the rhythm according to the zones and has replaced the wheel and the pan with the promise of Albania's membership in the EU.
This is the thesis that Rama is aiming to take on a 4th consecutive term as Prime Minister after 12 years in government, while many of the promises he made in his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd terms have remained on the shelf or have been forgotten.
However, this time, just like in 2017 and 2021, Rama has found a new way to present himself to the public, taking care of the 'facade'. It seems that the Prime Minister has understood that the best way to attract votes is neither programs nor promises, he has simply found the mechanisms to maintain power and has the luxury of having the time available to take care of the details of the performances, shows and spectacles he organizes. /Pamphlet/
