Prime Minister Edi Rama, while commenting today on the European integration process for Albania, emphasized that strengthening institutions and the fight against corruption are major challenges.
The head of government considered food safety and consumer safety as the "challenge of challenges".
"What I believe is most valuable in this process, beyond the implementation of a reform and the approval of the reform in Brussels, is that this process substantially increases the institutional capacities of the country.
The process has an extraordinary benefit and is irreplaceable. Because sometimes the general tendency is to view membership superficially, and not to understand that this historical process transforms the Albanian state and gives institutions a capacity they have never had.
This process ensures the fight against corruption, not simply a fight that takes place between the institution of justice and the phenomenon, but as a fight that also takes place on the front of modernization, institutional transformation, and the realization of a capacity of the entire state to prevent corruption. To prevent activities that take place in gray areas, or in the absence of the appropriate institutional channels," said Rama.
