The Assembly scandalously rejected with the majority votes the request of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, for an extraordinary interpellation with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Ermonela Felaj, said that it is known that there is a court decision that does not allow Berisha to participate in the plenary sessions. The request was rejected with the argument that it violates the honor, private life or personality of an individual or institution.
"The court did not give the right to the gentleman in question. It is universally known that Berisha has been banned from participating in parliament by court decision. The assembly does not decide and neither do you. This interplan represents issues that are not the responsibility of the Council of Ministers. They violate the honor, private life or personality of an individual or an institution" , answered Felaj.
The democratic deputy, Albana Vokshi, who got the right to speak, said that the majority is "terrified of Berisha" and does not even dare to mention his name.
"The name of Sali Berisha terrifies you. Where is that court decision that prohibits him from exercising the right of the deputy," she said.
Berisha's request for intepelance was for some tender issues of Rama's family.
"The Democratic Party of Albania, through its chairman Sali Berisha, has repeatedly denounced the fact that citizen Rea Xhillari, the daughter of Mrs. Linda Rama, the wife of Prime Minister Edi Rama, has participated and benefited from public tenders, without pretending to be the owner of directly, but connected to commercial subjects and as their collaborator, has benefited from them significant monetary values.
Specifically, the citizen Xhillari has benefited through the commercial entity 51N4E, which turns out to be a design and consultancy studio based in Brussels and Tirana, where the verification on the official website of this entity shows that Rea Xhillari has been part of the staff and collaborator for many years.
On the other hand, citizen Xhillari has also benefited from public tenders through the commercial entity 'I RI' sh.pk, which was co-founded by citizen Gent Agolli and entity 51N4E. The latter was co-owner with 50% of the company 'I RI' sh.pk, until April 2023, where he left after a series of denunciations made by the Democratic Party and its chairman, Mr. Sali Berisha" , it was said, among other things, in the request of Berisha, now as the chairman of the DP.
