"Fatos Nano created a modern party from the most conservative and 'ignorant' left-wing party in Europe", this is the assessment of lawyer Spartak Ngjela for the historical leader, the founder of the Socialist Party, who has been incarcerated for a week. resuscitation.
Ngjela said in an interview to the media that Nano managed to create a modern social democratic party giving a great help to the country's democracy and that history should write about his role in the Albanian political system.
" Nano had personality. Create a modern party from the communist party, made it a social democrat, from a party centuries ago, brought it to our time and after it became strong. And here we are still in power. Not that the SP is being intolerant of democracy within the country, but there is no conflict within its own party. History should address this issue ," said the lawyer.
He remembers the year 1991 when Nano was elected president of the SP. He admits that he was skeptical and did not believe that he would make the reforms that he undertook afterwards.
" When I saw that he was elected president, I didn't have much faith, but when I saw that within 3 days he eliminated the bureau that came from the Labor Party, I understood that he had personality. All the internal reforms that he took left a lot of room for debate, I understood that he would create a modern party. In front of him was a party with Saliu, part of the old lake of the Labor Party, " says Ngjela.
In March 1992 the Democratic Party won the elections and a year later Fatos Nano was imprisoned after being accused of corruption and abuse of office by the court.

" Rama is not at Nano's level. The current prime minister is afraid. Nano was not afraid. Rama does not allow internal competition. You are journalists, investigate. Rama does not allow the idea against as Nano allowed. A party is a competition of individuals in the same party where everyone tries to be president. This is the 1st norm of politics. Do not look at the medieval parties where one leaves the son and the other the daughter. SP is the strongest Party, it wins the elections again but there is no internal democratic conflict. This makes the party barren for to have no idea, " said the lawyer.
Prime Minister Edi Rama honored him today with the Star of Public Gratitude medal for all the good he gave to the country, and emphasized today that Nano deserves everyone's prayers.
