Former Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has stated that the parties should sit down and create a common language.
Speaking about the process of Albania's integration into the EU, Bushati said that different wings of politics must take steps back to achieve cooperation between them.
He said that at the table with the EU, everything is negotiated, and if a country fails to negotiate among itself for national interests, this shows a kind of political immaturity in the eyes of the EU member states.
" I have a very bad feeling that the issue of regulation and the issue of punishments came back to Parliament once again. You can open the archives, I was part of the parliamentary reform, when it was one of the 3 famous conditions to get the status of the candidate country. The EU creates it as an opportunity, as a condition, for you to start improving coexistence with your neighbor, because we are all Albanians. At the moment there is another more cooperative political climate to guarantee that we Albanians are a smart race ", said Bushati.
Asked who will have to take a step back, he said that the majority always has the opportunity to withdraw. According to him, we should no longer be hostages of the past, as he also commented on the SP's former relations with Berisha.
" Things in Albania have gone too far. For the next step, there is always a possibility of who will do it. The majority can do it. When we were in the opposition, we came up with plans with 3 points and 10 points. It is not that Berisha was a great democrat and treated us with great kindness, but on the other hand, we should not remain hostage to the past. When you are in power, you have an interest in the party that is in opposition being involved in these processes. So there should be unanimous discussions and division of roles in function of the national interest ," he said.
According to him, even the President of the Republic can do this, as he ironically said that even Baba Mondi can do it.
" When he talks to the Jerusalem Post about his impatience to create the Bektashi state, he can be asked for his opinion on this as well. I mean we have to get out of the vicious cycle of fratricide. We are tired of each other, we will no longer sit at a table with all EU member countries, where we will negotiate for everything. When you can't reach a consensus within your country, what consensus do you expect to find with the EU ", said Bushati to Erla Mëhilli.
