'You have put all the patronageists in the administration'/ A fight
Commission for Labour, Social Affairs and Health

The Commission for Labour, Social Affairs and Health held today (September 9) the next meeting, where the draft law 'On inspection in the Republic of Albania' was discussed.

There were no shortage of debates between MPs of both political camps, due to the suspicions raised by opposition MPs, that the draft law has shortcomings and spaces that leave room for abuses, especially those regarding the selection of inspectors, organization and professionalism.

The Deputy of PL, Petrit Vasili, raised the concern about the political interference in the Inspection Inspectorates, but also the concerns that the inspectors of different inspectorates bring to businesses.

During the debate, deputy Albana Vokshi issued accusations about 'patronageists in the administration' and about political appointments in the reorganization of the inspectorates.

Further, there were also debates about interference and allegations of insults, between the president Zheni Gjergji and some members of the majority. The socialist deputies asked the president not to interrupt the speech and the opinion of his colleagues, while the democratic deputy threatened to interrupt the speech.

He didn't insult anyone. It's morning and maybe he didn't sleep', said one of the majority MPs.

'I leave early. Don't insult me, I can even remove the word, deal with the law!', Gjergji returned to him, causing further debates.

This brought the reaction of the majority, reminding the other side to 'not remember the time when their heads of institutions did the campaigns'.

Another discussion was about the businesses that complain about the frequent checks and harassment from the inspectorates. Vasili requested more precise specifications for the draft law and that the inspectors. Meanwhile, deputy Albana Vokshi returned to the issue of cancerous ice creams on the market and the lack of measures, addressing the Minister of Health and Social Affairs and asking for explanations as to why the appropriate measures had not been taken.

The head of the KLSH raised the concern about 13.2 tons of ice cream consumed. No action was taken. Even the Prosecutor's Office fired him. What has been done with this case, since the man who investigated and denounced it was accused and attacked by the majority. Do you and the prosecutors think about children, do they have children. We have to think about our children. From the information we have, there are still other products such as meat or others, with harmful substances for citizens. Do you have a position on this issue, the use and consumption of products for children and not only, harmful and others in the food market, have you taken any steps as an institution regarding the alarming situations?', said Vokshi.

Minister Koçiu replied that the appropriate measures had been taken, that a good part of these ice creams have been blocked and removed from the market and that checks on these issues are periodic and continue in every business.

"Within the framework of the law, checks are carried out to protect the health of the consumer", said Koçiu.
