The National Council meeting has been taking place at the Democratic Party headquarters for almost two hours, which began with a long speech by the Democratic Party leader, Sali Berisha.
The latter asked the members of the National Council to focus on the December 22 protest, the first national protest since the defeat in the May 11 elections.
But in parallel, a group of 17 members have submitted a proposal, through which the National Council is requested that characters linked to Soros or who have benefited from Rama Government tenders, directly or indirectly, cannot be part of this party and its leadership forums.
Even at the National Council meeting, it was proposed to establish an Investigative Commission regarding the manner in which signatures were collected in support of Endri Shabani as the People's Advocate. According to Top Channel, this proposal was made by Aulon Kalaja, who supported Ervin Salianji's move into the DP structures.
Excerpts from the discussions:
Sali Berisha: We will focus the discussions only on this topic. Every member is invited to express suggestions, opinions, criticisms, remaining a party of free speech. Today we will focus on organizing the protest. This protest is just the beginning.
Edi Paloka: Initiative by 17 members of the National Council. I propose, since today's topic is protest, that a working group be established in the meantime and discussed at the first meeting.
Lisander Hoxha: We believe that Soros is a cancer for democracy, not only for Albania, the USA, etc. It is unacceptable to have people among us associated with this organization.
Aulon Kalaja: I agree with Lisandri. Soros should be declared "non grata" by the next Government. I think that the DP should go further to the right, we should be conservative, not say that we are a center-right party. The People's Advocate has been elected, a Sorosist with the signatures of the DP. An Investigative Commission should be established on the way the signatures for Shabani were obtained.
