Former Democratic Party MP Ori Nebijaj says that today it is difficult to find people who have held political power in Albania who you can label as morally clean.
"Recent cases have definitively rooted the perception that politics does not serve the people, on the contrary, the problem is that the legacy of what was before is not so dignified and all the affairs that happen and the mentions of everyone's involvement do not give morale to the parties. Now these have all been bought and sold. Where is politics for the citizens anymore? Not even a cat believes this," Nebiaj said on "Off the Record".
"Here you also have active names today, because this is the pearl of pearls, who have only existed in the opposition and are billionaires, which is another story. That's why I get messages all the time telling me I better leave," she added.
She also stated that the leaders of the opposition parties should come out side by side in protests to give a clear message to citizens, leaving aside personal interests or the race for power.
"Especially when a person enters politics, he does something that is not directly related to his own interests, but as long as it doesn't happen, I have the impression that this is the reason why it doesn't happen. They should have come together and gone out there, all four of them, arm in arm, and said, 'Here we are, come join us.' It doesn't matter what the power is, it matters that this power has gone where it no longer holds. That's it. Citizens could have been more willing to react, " she emphasized.
