The new doctor has no problem with the old one not implementing the statute. Ilir Alimehmeti is of the opinion that the discussion on whether or not Sali Berisha should be removed belongs to the forums.
"Berisha is the chairman of the DP. The statute is decided by the party and it is our right to have this discussion within our forums, when they meet. I am a member of the National Council, you know, it has not met yet, we will have our discussions ," says Ilir Alimehmeti for TCH.
The loss of the elections was not accompanied by a resignation of the leadership. With the conclusion of the legal battle, Dr. Alimehmeti expects the party to enter a new phase, one of reflection and analysis of the performance of the result, which should be accompanied by a change in the leadership structures.
"This is what makes a political party move and have rotation within itself. If it had been about someone's resignation, the resignations should have been given. Otherwise, the changes are the result of a more measured and collegial reflection on the electoral performances. How much someone, or a force, or a group has managed to produce. If it has performed well, it should take a step forward, or if it has done the opposite, take a step back. Because we are supposed to do rotation within Albania, the same thing should happen within us ," he says.
After internal X-rays, Dr. Alimehmeti is of the opinion that the doors of the Democratic Party should be opened to young people.
"I myself am a product of the opening, but it is a small product. The numbers have been small, it needs to be expanded, because only in this way can oxygenation occur that can bring one more step, one more march ," says Alimehmeti.
Ilir Alimehmet's name is mentioned every time there are elections within or outside the party. He believes that the Democrats are not ready for a premature electoral race, while insisting that the time has come to change the electoral system, which left out of Parliament those most voted for by the people - one of whom was himself, whom the system penalized.
