Democratic MP Tritan Shehu, speaking about the May 11 elections, said that the Government distorted the process, adding that the DP's denunciations will unmask the electoral farce of the elections.
"It is a conspiracy against democracy and against the DP, to harm it in any form. We have involvement inside and outside Albania. We have an electoral farce and no one can deny this. The majority distorted the electoral process, the denunciations will unmask the electoral farce. I do not trust Albanian justice.
International reactions have been muted. The US did not congratulate the winner, the one who will be prime minister, but congratulated the Albanian people. The methods used in Albania have also been used abroad. The process is completely distorted in Albania and abroad.
"Regimes are overthrown by popular movements, the regime is overthrown and then the way is opened to free voting. I do not believe in violence. Rama is overthrown by popular movements," Shehu said in the News24 studio.
Shehu further said that Sali Berisha is a missionary of free voting. According to him, Berisha's removal is being sought by those who want to weaken the Albanian opposition.
"It is normal to have different opinions. Those who are making Sali Berisha the headline today want to weaken his opposition battle. Berisha is a missionary for the free vote. Berisha's departure would be a great damage to the Albanian opposition. I want to thank every candidate of the DP, whether they were on the closed or open list. All the candidates of the Democratic Party in the elections have done an extraordinary job. We must continue to work. If there is anyone who does not want the EU, it is Edi Rama, he wants the Sultanate", declared Shehu.
