Edi Rama's Socialist Party has turned into an atrophied political body, where there is no discussion, no individuality, no debate and competition for something new.
In the corridors of the majority, these days it is said that the "big man" has managed to find out some text messages between deputies, senators or even mayors, which they have exchanged for the congress that starts on Sunday.
More or less, these conversations have been just banter between people who consider each other friends, joking that they will have to prepare to listen to the big boss for hours in the hall of the Palace of Congresses in the middle of this heat
And as happens in these cases, where the "big one" doesn't get away with anything, the "annoyed" people were called and a session of humiliating questions was held, not by the boss, but by people who make trouble, and have nothing to do with the politics of Socialist Party, but only with Edi Rama.
Which means they got the message that the boss knows you make fun of him. And this has caused anxiety and fear, especially now that it is rumored that the current parliamentary group will change up to 40% in the next elections.
So only this anxiety and fear is the newest and most interesting thing about the electoral congress of the Socialist Party, which is expected to resemble the pictures of the mock meetings of Fidel in Cuba, who spoke for hours without stopping, or the majlis of Recep Erdogan in Turkey, where only one person speaks, and the others below clap, shout and cheer for the leader. This is a well-known scheme, which these days is being re-launched on social networks by Arab nostalgics who remember Saddam Hussein or Libya's Gaddafi. They are similar to our bablok, which has turned the SP into an Arab-type 'Bath' party.
Only the resignation of Joe Biden and debates about the new candidacies of the American Democratic Party for President, have brought a new energy to that political part that seemed dead a week ago.
The failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump, who was a strong villain, but also a development that gave the Republicans a boost, seems to have been forgotten precisely by the dynamics of the internal debate among American Democrats.
Because in a country with alternative democracy, debate and conflict are really the essence of politics, which then brings about an alternative.
Edi Rama's Socialist Party has turned into an atrophied political body, where there is no discussion, no individuality, no debate and competition for something new.
At the time of Fatos Nano, the Socialist Party managed to ensure a rapid and continuous movement of elites precisely through debate and clashes. Of course, there was also a lot of corruption, but this was in the conditions of permanent impunity. However, this clash became a factor for the DP, atrophied by Sali Berisha at that time, to restore debate, competition and the arrival of new elements in politics as much as possible.
Edi Rama's SP has long ceased to be a political body, but a giant apparatus where the boss himself decides with a narrow couch of viziers that no one knows. But the work is done with the "bows" of rope and rope and a handful of oligarchs who have turned into hateful agitators on social networks.
No minister, no mayor, no deputy has any weight today, no possibility to propose or speak something to gain political access.
Even when they do, they get ridicule or anger, like, what do you need? That's why no one talks, has no interest, no incentives or even ego to achieve something. Rama has closed the succession debate, even though he has reached the point of a power that has nothing left to give. Even the new names he brings like the conjurer in the circus, he pulls out like rabbits from his inner pocket.
The branches of the SP and its structures no longer produce any name, no leader, no longer even a career, as they know that Edi Rama appoints the mayors or deputies, based on the preferences of the strong.
That's why these lobbies, those of crime, have turned into real political salons, where MPs also come to get some feedback from the thoughts of the sultan of Surrel.
If the situation continues as it is, and there will be no more interest or courage from the top politicians of the SP, to muddy the waters, the dam will burst soon and the SP will have the fate of its sisters who have disappeared off the face of the earth, or crumbled. As happened with PASOK in Greece or even with SDSM in North Macedonia./ Pamphlet
