Even from his prison cell, former Prime Minister, former Speaker of Parliament and former President Ilir Metaj has attempted to hide his criminal record over the course of 33 years, for which he was detained by the police and investigated and tried by the courts.
This attempt by Ilir Meta was ascertained by the CEC, in the personal self-declaration form according to the decriminalization law, completed and submitted as a candidate for deputy of the "DP-Greater Albania" coalition.
Fellow villager Skraparli, chairman of the CEC, Ilirijan Celibashi, returned the form of candidate Ilir Metaj through his lawyer, because he had not declared the police and criminal proceedings.
According to information, Ilir Metaj himself had requested the re-filling of the decriminalization form, afraid that he would be excluded from the candidacy and criminally prosecuted again, for concealing information, fraud, and falsifying official documents.
