Shkruar nga PamfletiDetails have emerged from the second hearing on the merits of former President Ilir Meta at the Special Court, where SPAK presented part of the evidence from the investigative file on the CEZ-DIA affair and LSI lobbying in the US.
During the hearing, special prosecutor Sotir Kllapi stated that the criminal proceedings against Meta initially began after Romeo Kara's complaint in 2019.
" The proceedings were registered in 2019, based on the complaint of Romeo Kara, who accused Mr. Meta of having personally and through his connections influenced the finalization of the CEZ-DIA agreement ," said the prosecutor.
According to SPAK, investigations have identified connections and communications between Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi, businessman Ardian Shatku and former DIA administrator Kastriot Ismailaj.
The prosecution claims that Meta and Kryemadhi exerted influence on the interests of businessman Ardian Shatku in the fiber optic market.
The hearing was accompanied by tensions and strong debates between defense attorneys, prosecutors, and the jury. Attorney Kujtim Cakrani objected to the way the trial was conducted and Meta was kept in a glass cage.
The defense also requested a live broadcast of the hearing, but the court rejected the request on the grounds that live broadcast could violate the principle of innocence and the privacy of witnesses.
On the other hand, Monika Kryemadhi requested that SPAK make available the environmental and telephone intercepts mentioned in the list of evidence.
The Special Court also rejected Ilir Meta's request to change the personal security measure, despite the financial guarantee offered by the defense.
