The chairman of the 'Albania Becomes' Movement, Adriatik Lapaj, stated that over 10,500 people have been killed in Albania during the years of transition.
While commenting on the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja inside the courtroom, Lapaj also said that politics is responsible for all disputes over property issues, with the various laws it has issued, which according to him lead to clashes between citizens.
"If you think about how small a country we are and how many problems we create in relation to property, it seems as if a billion people live here. I think this is intentional by the Albanian political class. And I'll tell you the chronology of why I think so. Do you know how many people have been killed over the property issue in the Albanian transition? Over 10,500 killed. This is a fact, people have been killed over a fence, over a canal.
First, politics passed a law called Law 7501, then it passed a law on the privatization of former agricultural enterprises, then it passed a law on the legalization of buildings built on lands that have no destination, then they postponed the deadline for this law on legalization indefinitely. And what has been done? A wound has been left open continuously. So for the same property there can be a 3-fold or 4-fold conflict. So who did this? Politics", he said for "A2 CNN".
