The General Secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, said that the request for the arrest of Ahmetaj was not made to cover up the horror event in Kruja, after which the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, was dismissed.
Bardhi said that SPAK's investigation is incomplete, but adds that the request to the Assembly came on the day when the last investigative actions for the "Ahmetaj" file were also done.

The meeting is overdue and there is no reason to waste time. The Council of Mandates is not a court where lawyers face each other and make a broad analysis. The time given 24 hours is sufficient for the elements that the Council must consider. There is no reason to postpone the meeting, except to prepare to enable Ahmetaj to leave the country or to give him more time to clear the evidence. This would be unacceptable and would make the Assembly complicit in Ahmetaj's escape. Parliament has only one role, to allow the prosecution to do its duty.
Why would Ahmetaj clean up the evidence now?
Rama, Veliaj and Gjiknuri will have to be in the investigation, but each of them continues to be in their positions. Ahmetaj also believed that he would be untouchable. We will have to verify if Ahmetaj could have escaped as we speak.
Is SPAK's work to be evaluated with this request?

I have considered the investigation incomplete as long as other officials involved continue to roam free in state offices. I verified whether we are dealing with a "directed justice" to cover the Kruja scandal. I verified when the last investigative action was carried out by the prosecution and it was July 7. So at the end of this investigative action, a decision was made to request Ahmetaj's arrest.
Do you believe that SPAK sends the request now in order not to cover another scandal or is the arrest required now to cover Kruja?
Ahmetaj and other officials should have been in prison a long time ago. SPAK is long overdue for the completion of the investigations for the three incinerators. The fact that it was requested at this moment by SPAK, I don't want to speculate and it turns out that the last action was made on July 7, that is, the day when SPAK also made a decision to send the request to the Assembly.
Is there a decision-making process for the meeting, how will it take place?
It is a request of SPAK that the meeting be closed. There is an order from one of the members of the Regulation Council, but the Speaker of the Assembly has no authority to determine whether it will be open or closed. We will ask that it be developed with open doors to make transparency as complete as possible.
