On the last day of last year, Ervin Salianji made a surprise appearance at the headquarters of the DP, where he had not set foot for two years, since Sali Berisha settled there. His attitude was just as surprising. Unity of the opposition, solidarity with Sali Berisha for the unjust arrest.
The democratic deputy, who has long been separated from Lulzim Basha, explained the change of attitude on the show "Pa Censure", analyzing the situation where the opposition is today.
" The government aims to annihilate the opposition, therefore our reaction should be unity. Today, the opposition is in its most difficult situation and in these conditions every effort must be made, giving in and surpassing itself, in order not to allow the PD to be undone ," said Salianji.
He insisted on the long-standing idea that DP needs renewal, leadership from a new generation and a different political approach.
But, accepting Sali Berisha as an inalienable electoral factor with the greatest factual support among the democrats, Ervin Salianji appears cautious, when he brings to attention another major factor that the opposition needs in its confrontation with the government.
"It is vital for DP to do everything possible to have relations with the USA at the best level, to have the best possible relations", said Salianji.
But how can this happen, when the leader of the opposition has been declared non grata by the US? Ervin Salianji answers: "Having all the necessary communications and doing everything, it is possible for us, over time, to find mechanisms for recovery. The focus is on a certain person, Sali Berisha, who got the votes while bearing this cost as well. In these conditions, we have no chance to beat Edi Rama, except by bringing together all the different opinions, the colors we have, to unite in diversity."
There is one person that Ervin Salianji does not consider it possible to join the opposition.
" Every democrat who has not joined the opposition should join, but I don't see that Lulzim Basha has this desire or intention, because I see an attempt by him to become part of the government ," said the opposition deputy.
Ervin Salianji believes that the opposition has only two ways to choose: either unite against Edi Rama, or become servants of the prime minister.
In various situations, Ervin Salianji has distinguished himself from many other MPs for his concrete ideas and arguments in their defense.
This was also the case when he was asked if he supports the merger of the DP through the merger of the group of deputies with the party structures or the merger beyond the faction.
" Personally, I think we need a form where we don't have an obvious division, such as the faction. You can stay within the DP structures by having a different opinion. You can stay creating spaces and representing other people who follow us and trust us. We do not have to identify these supporters as a minority. However, the idea of the faction is not excluded. My opinion is that we should have a union and after the union have a reconceptualization of the opposition ," said Salianji, according to whom the isolation of Sali Berisha does not hinder this process, since he is exercising his activity in different forms.
" If there is a will, the union takes place, the opening takes place and everyone is given the opportunity to integrate and join the DP ," said Ervin Salianji.
With the idea that the DP should be reformed, as part of this change, the democratic deputy also includes changing the name of the Democratic Party.
" I stand by the opinion that PD, due to the strong clash we had with each other, should be transformed and even have a new name, removing any negativity from it. I don't want to make the oracle, but the PD trial will last as long as Rama is in power. It is not the sigla that unites us, it is the people, it is the ideas. That's why we have to move on to this decision-making, if there is no quick solution in the Court of Appeal, " said Ervin Salianji.
