The Ministers of Defense met today in Brussels, where the Minister of our country, Niko Peleshi, is also present.
Pelesi indicated which issues will be addressed in this meeting. He emphasized that on March 4 the airbase in Kuçovo will be opened, while he added that Albania is a contributor to NATO through its missions.
Among other things, he emphasized that Albania is investing in national defense, for the purchase of complex systems, while they prioritize the anti-drone system.
"The air base of Kuçova will be opened on March 4, and we want to include the port of Porto Romano in these plans. All these are defensive reactions but discouraging any dreams or ambitions of Russia that threaten the free and democratic world. Albania is a contributor through its missions. We are in 8 missions. We are investing for our national defense, for the purchase of complex systems, we have prioritized the anti-drone system. It will protect military and civilian infrastructure. Anti-aircraft defense is a challenge for us who are allies in NATO but who are part of the contribution to global peace and in all NATO operations", he said to "Euronews".
Regarding the port of Porto Romano, Peleshi emphasized that we are lobbying for the port of Porto-Romano to be built with the business model of the Kuçova air base.
He said that we have lobbied at all levels even of the most powerful allies in NATO. After March 4, the fleet of Bajraktar drones will arrive.
