The chairman of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, has commented on the first visit of the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Tirana. The media has called it an important visit, as it emphasizes that every visit of such a level serves to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
He said that this visit is important for the entire region, taking into account the situation in which the world is, the war in Ukraine or even the warnings about a possible conflict in the Balkans.
"Important visits, especially considering the context, the developments in Ukraine and the Balkans. After the visit, he will be at the security conference in Munich, with the largest dimensions that takes place every year for security issues, where the Balkans will undoubtedly have special importance. Every visit of high American officials takes on a special importance, to strengthen the partnership in different fields.
The visit is also about the region. Albania will organize a meeting of many countries to support Ukraine. This is a moment that comes in the evaluation of this, the context is wider than Tirana. But the evaluation given to Albania should be seen as a historical moment for a stable partnership with the USA" , said Mediu for Report TV.
For Mediu, this visit should not be used for political interests.
"There should not be any wavering in Albanian political opinion that relations with the USA should be as stable as possible. I would consider it abusive to misuse his office for political interests. America has defined Albania as a strategic partner regardless of who is in government today or tomorrow", he said.
