The government has today carried out a silent reformatting of its representation in the regions. The Council of Ministers has decided to dismiss two prefects, Arben Çuko in Fier and Plator Nesturi in Vlora, replacing them with new figures, in a decision that has not been accompanied by any public comment or explanation for the reasons for this change.
According to the official announcement, instead of Çuko, Anduel Xhindi will take over as prefect of Fier District, while in Vlora, Evis Allushi will replace Nestur. The new names are expected to take office in the coming days, while no information on their professional profile or previous experience has been made public.
The departure of Çuko and Nesturi comes at a time when prefectures have returned to the government's attention, especially in the function of coordinating territorial reforms and managing local crises. It remains unclear whether these moves are part of a broader restructuring of the state administration or a signal for a change of course in the respective regions.
