A plenary session has begun in the Parliament, where Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has raised concerns regarding the changes to the Parliament's regulations, describing them as a flagrant violation of parliamentary rules.
According to her, the regulation should only undergo concise and agreed-upon changes, while unilateral interventions by the majority violate the opposition's space and avoid the necessary consultation process.
Tabaku stated that the Conference of Speakers did not reach an agreement on the calendar of proceedings, as the majority proposed to include changes to the regulation after the Constitutional Court's decision was made public. She added that the majority seems to have information that the opposition does not have.
"At the Conference of Speakers, we did not agree on the calendar because the majority proposed to present the changes to the regulations after the Constitutional Court's decision is made public. The majority informed us that it expects the Constitutional Court's decision to be made public. We do not know what information the majority has that we do not have. I want to announce that the changes to the regulations that the DP took to the Constitutional Court, with a decision by the Constitutional Court that gave the opposition the right to violate, are the most flagrant case that the rules in this parliament have been violated with both feet," said Tabaku.
She also criticized the Socialist Party's new proposals, arguing that they limit the rights of the opposition and narrow the scope of parliamentary committees led by it.
"If the CC does not clarify the decision, we will continue normally. This discussion at the Conference is necessary to clarify that unilateral changes are a violation of all principles of coexistence in parliament," the MP said.
Finally, she announced that the Democratic Party has proposed a motion with debate on the US State Department's report, while adding that the discussion on the first report has not yet taken place.
