The vice-president and deputy of the Democratic Party, Kreshnik Çollaku, has commented on the latest developments in the country, focusing on the Berlin Process Summit and the visit of French President Macron.
As for holding the Summit in Tirana, Çollaku said that this was very good news for the region and the country, adding that this event has "definitely buried" the idea of OpenBalkan.
Invited to the News24 studio, he revealed that Tirana was chosen to hold the Summit by the EU and it was not a merit of the Rama government. According to him, Tirana was chosen because of the Albanian factor in Kosovo, Macedonia, but also Montenegro, as well as the positioning of Belgrade closer to Russia and China.
As for the issue of Kosovo, Çollaku said that the amendments proposed by him for the Resolution for Kosovo were dropped as a result of an agreement between the Socialist Party and Reestablishment led by Sali Berisha.
He revealed that more than 5 deputies of the majority, without mentioning names, told him after the vote that the amendments requested by Çollaku were right, but they were ordered to vote against. Thus, he went on to say that in Prime Minister Rama's government cabinet there are several people who have been declared non-women by a strategic ally of Albania.
"The summit held in Albania was very good news for the country and the Balkans, as the dangerous Open Balkan project is finally buried. In Open Balkan Serbia was the locomotive of the process. Rama has insisted on Open Balkan and made it a bet of his life, while later he came out and said that it is finished as a project. Scholz's commitment also buries any hope for Open Balkan. Berisha is right in his articulation of this.
The summit is not the merit of Edi Rama's government. Of the 6 countries of the Western Balkans, the two major epicenters are Albania and Serbia. Out of the 6 countries, 4 of them have two Albanian states, a state like Macedonia where the Albanian factor determines and in Montenegro they are an influencing factor. Either it would be done in Belgrade, or Tirana, How could it be done in Belgrade when they have a tendency to get closer to Russia and China.
Edi Rama is interested in staying in the gray area, so he did not even ask for a concrete date for EU integration even during the conference with Macron, a man who is among the people who decide the fate of Europe.
Albania is a member of every national organization and has the role to speak for Kosovo in these organizations. I requested 3 amendments to add to the resolution on Kosovo. A request was made to the EU to influence the recognition of Kosovo's independence by these states. More important than the recognition of Serbia is the recognition of these 5 countries.
I requested that the parliament turn to the EU to request the withdrawal of sanctions against Kosovo. All of them were overthrown, but the biggest surprise is that there was an agreement between the SP and Reestablishment to overthrow him. This surprised and hurt me.
The parliament has 140 deputies, 40 deputies did not even participate in the vote. They didn't even react. Because they found that text unacceptable. Even many deputies of the majority told me that the text was correct, but they were ordered not to vote for it. There were 5 or 6 of them, but I won't tell them.
Rama has in his cabinet persons declared non-women by a strategic ally of ours. There are as many other declared non-women from this country in the parliamentary group. The Prime Minister must reveal them. The day will come and the names will be published one day, but for the sake of fairness, it is up to Rama to reveal them and distance himself", said Çollaku.
