The Italian Minister of Tourism Daniela Santache says that Albania cannot be compared with Italy in terms of natural beauty and culture.
"I am the first minister of the Italian government who went to Albania, but from a cultural and landscape point of view there is no comparison with Italy," said Santache during the 'Prince Meetings' activity in Viareggio.
The battle for the tourist market between the two countries started with a meme posted by the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, which showed Italians flocking to Albania on the famous ship Vlora. The post caused quite a bit of controversy in the Italian media.
In parallel with the battle of propaganda between politicians, this tourist season many Italian businesses in the field of tourism, especially those in the south of the country, have expressed concern about the significant drop in tourists, who according to them are choosing to spend their vacations in Albania en masse.
A few days ago, Albania was also visited by the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, who stayed a few days in Vlora at the invitation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. According to the Prime Minister of Albania, 500,000 Italians have visited Albania this season, which is a historical record.
