The opposition candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, Florian Binaj, declared that he is not Sali Berisha's chosen one, and even added that he has not met him at all.
In an interview for the show "Top Story", Binaj added that he will be an independent candidate and will campaign without the support of any of the leaders of the opposition parties. He also emphasized that he will also be an independent candidate on the ballot.
" I did not enter the race to represent the opposition, but the citizens of Tirana. I do not divide them according to party colors, if the air is clean, it is clean for everyone. If there is traffic, it is for everyone."
Even after I was elected, I did not speak to Berisha or anyone from the opposition. I did not declare myself a candidate to wait for support later. Adriatik Lapaj was the one who called me first, he told me to check if it was a hidden camera. Then he told me to support him, he told me if we are the ones, I said yes. Then the next day Sali Berisha reacted with his support.
"I have not spoken to Berisha yet. I will not campaign with any leader, not even Berisha. I will not campaign with them, I have asked them to bring working groups but not with any leader of the opposition party. Even on the ballot paper, he will be an independent candidate, we will ask the CEC for this ," said Binaj.
