The interpellation held today in the Parliament between the opposition and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, was accompanied by strong debates regarding fuel reserves and the management of the energy crisis in the country.
Opposition MP Eno Bozdo accused the government of running out of hydrocarbon reserves, stating that the situation is alarming.
"I guarantee you that hydrocarbon reserves are zero," said Bozdo during his reply to the Assembly.
Minister Karakaçi opposed this statement, saying that there is no shortage of fuel in the market and that institutions are constantly monitoring the situation.
"I want to guarantee Albanians that there is no shortage of product on the market. As for market controls, they are continuous. All measures have been taken and the last control is due by the end of 2025 for the reserve and safety of the product," the minister declared.
According to him, following the tensions created in international markets, the government has set up a special group for the control of hydrocarbon reserves for a month.
Karakaçi also touched on the issue of electricity, refuting the opposition's claims that before 2013 the situation was more favorable for consumers.
"Before 2013, there were 45% losses in the electricity network and only 70% of the payment level," he said, also ironizing the debates about the successes of that period.
"Coming here and successfully referring to our achievements up to 2013 seems a bit strange. It seems the same as discussing the privatization of 4 hydropower plants to pay Kurum taxes," the minister added.
Karakaçi also said that controls in the fuel market will continue to guarantee supply and price stability for consumers.
