"We could not continue with debates", Gjekmarkaj on the union with

The deputy of the DP, Agron Gjekmarkaj, speaking about the union between Sali Berisha and Gazmend Bardhi, declared that the opposition no longer had the luxury of continuing the same debate.

In an interview for "Abc News", Gjekmarkaj stated that they were forced to unite for important causes.

He underlined that it is not the time to continue the debate about "non grata", adding that he has not made any agreement for his return to the DP.

"It is a union of opposition wills after a long journey in a fierce debate for two years. A debate that has greatly damaged the opposition in Albania and served the government immensely to keep the opposition divided. We debated about real problems and some of us stood by the idea until the end. There has been a division which in itself has pleased the government more than anyone else. Each of us has thrown our own wood into the fire that was lit. We have held certain positions and we have not retreated from the positions we have held, but sometimes the reality and the nuances do not match. The majority has chosen to recognize as DP what does not have the seal.

We have accepted that as a minority we join the majority to make opposition. The question is, will we do it or not? Yesterday we showed up at the DP headquarters. For two years, we have been asking for DP to enter into a new transformation process. We did not succeed, the fact is that both stayed in different positions, but the difference is that Berisha has a large amount of support from the Democrats. The support for him has been seen, the political rhetoric of the day is another thing and the numbers are reality and another thing. Now, if we want to oppose these figures, we must collect or divide them even more. We must be realistic by surpassing ourselves. I think it is an attitude that the country needs ", he added.
