Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi has raised concerns about the safety conditions in the medical gases department at Lushnja Hospital. He states that internal documents and reports speak of a risk to the lives of employees and patients.
According to him, in a letter dated December 13, 2024, the oxygen department specialists have signaled a significant lack of technical standards and maximum risk due to the conditions in which the department operates. The referenced materials also mention previous incidents, such as bomb explosions and damage to the gas distribution network, where it is alleged that the lives of employees were put at risk.
According to the MP, employees have also identified a lack of fire-fighting equipment and storage of cylinders outside technical safety conditions.
Korreshi emphasizes that the head of the department, against whom disciplinary measures were previously taken, was reappointed to the position during 2025. He links this decision to increasing concerns about the safe functioning of the department.
The MP has asked law enforcement agencies to launch an investigation and the Ministry of Health to verify the situation at the hospital, as well as to determine institutional responsibilities.

A serious scandal has occurred and continues to occur at Lushnja Hospital, on the verge of drama, where the lives of oxygen workers, but also of patients and their families, are at risk.
I have been made aware of several disturbing reports and documents, which I am publishing below, where employees of the oxygen department at Lushnja Hospital have informed the Director and the entire management team of this hospital about the serious consequences and the great drama that is occurring with the technical security conditions and, more specifically:
With letter no. prot. 1932, dated 13.12.2024, the specialists of the oxygen department are addressed for the reason that "Presentation of the technical situation at the Lushnja Hospital, in the medical gases department (oxygen, nitrogen), where technical safety rules do not exist and the risk is at maximum limits, where at any time we are faced with a catastrophe with unforeseen consequences".
They continue in their letter about the breakdowns and the consequences that occurred, up to the explosions of 2 m high bombs, which endangered the lives of the employees. The flames of the fire took hold and caused the regulators to melt, and the flames were brought under control by the employees.
They write to the Director of the Patronage that there is no fire alarm inside.
They complain that the oxygen cylinders are stored outside the technical safety conditions and at increased risk. The warehouse that serves for their storage is closed and is not opened by the person in charge, who, guess what, is the one who beat the doctor at the Lushnja Hospital and a friend of the patronizing Director.
With the pressure of the bombs, there is a risk of the hospital being blown up. A tragedy has been warned.
With letter no. prot. 1938, dated 16.12.2024, the oxygen specialists address the Director to ascertain the defect.
They also report the explosion that occurred on 14.12.2024, a powerful explosion, it is said, that has destroyed the technique and the entire distribution network, where the life of a specialist was also endangered. They demanded a fixed purchase of fire and the release of the warehouse. The explosion of the cylinder is said to have come from a very worn valve and luckily the other cylinders were empty. They raise concerns about the head of finance, Bedrie Greca, who has not planned the necessary funds.
With letter No. 1974, dated 20.12.2024, it was requested that Altin Alla, the director's friend, be no longer responsible for the problems found in the oxygen department.
On 26.12.2024, the former director of the Hospital issued a warning with a warning of dismissal to Altin Alla and he was dismissed as oxygen manager.
With the arrival of the patronage Roland Ziu as director of the Hospital, on 27.02.2025, with no. prot. 62, he reappointed, albeit with restraint, Altin Alla as head of oxygen, even after the predicted dramas.
The voices continue to say that the replacement of the oxygen pipes from the building to be repaired, 7 months old and broken because the construction permit was not issued, to the improvised emergency building are the same, only painted, even though there was a tender for these. But that's for another time.
This scandal cannot go uninvestigated and accountability must be held, so I appeal to the Minister of Health and law enforcement agencies to investigate the case.
