Criminal patrons, Rama and Berisha's real allies in the elections

Shkruar nga Pamfleti

The elections in Albania are in the hands of criminal clans, the real patronage players who secure votes for Rama and Berisha. From Shkodra to Elbasan and Tirana, violence and crime have become the main means of maintaining power...

Criminal patrons, Rama and Berisha's real allies in the elections

There is a long-running opposition rhetoric about the administration's patronage agents that Edi Rama uses as an "army" in the elections. In fact, the reality is more dramatic and disturbing, as the real patronage agents on the ground are the big crime figures, problematic directors or families that benefit economically from political connections.

In the interview with Sokol Balla, Rama declared that he did not need Tomë Doshi's votes. But, in fact, Rama's silence towards Tomë's public aggression against Benet Beci in Shkodra proves the opposite. Doshi is in fact a powerful patron of Rama in the territory, where municipalities and certain areas in the region are controlled by his people, with strong criminal connections.

In Elbasan, Qifja and Ymeri of Dibrës, in collaboration with Tom Doshi, have organized massive meetings with the Dibrës of Elbasan, Gramsh and Cërrik, where they have requested not only local votes, but also mobilization in the diaspora. Present at this meeting were Saimir Hasalla and Orlando Rakipi, two key figures of the SP, who are directly linked to Qifja.

The recent brawl in Elbasan, where Luçiano Boçi's son was attacked, looks like a scenario by Suel Çela's gang, a way to weaken the DP candidate supported by the Çapjat. Luçiano Boçi's family reacted clearly, describing the incident as political and not "routine", pointing out the fact that these scenarios are orchestrated by the real patronage players: the criminal clans.

Berisha has never attacked Suel Çela, as the latter has been an ally at some political moments, just as Berisha is today an ally with Elvis Rroshi in Kavaja.

In Tirana, the fight is even more aggressive. Blendi Gonxhe has clashed with Plarent Ndreca and Pandeli Majko in Kavaja and Rrogozhina, acting as a political leader without being punished by Rama. In this territory, Gonxhe is reactivating characters known for their criminal connections, such as Ylber Bakalli, the former head of Yzberishi, a known problematic figure in the territory.

Bakalli, a known supporter of Tom Doshi, has become the nightmare of the socialists of unit 14, where he illegally uses the mayor's seal in exchange for money.

This situation clearly proves that the real patrons of politics in Albania are not the administration employees, but the criminal figures who control votes with violence and money, turning democracy into a political farce./ Pamphlet
