The Democratic Party in Lezha has been reminded to react to the barbaric violence against Sokol Toma, its former leader in Dajç, even though this event occurred two days ago.
The DP demands from law enforcement agencies a full investigation into the incident and the identification of the perpetrators. Also in this delayed reaction, the DP Lezhë expresses solidarity and full support to Toma and his family.
"This event is shocking and unacceptable for any democratic society, while it constitutes another alarm bell for the serious state of public order and security in Lezha and the entire country. We ask the State Police, the Prosecutor's Office and all law enforcement bodies to act to fully clarify this event, identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Any delay, silence or attempt to relativize such cases only increases citizens' distrust of institutions and encourages a climate of impunity," the post on social networks reads.
Toma was raped while traveling by car from Tirana to Lezha. Masked, yet unidentified individuals ambushed and beat him on the Laç-Mamurras highway, near the Sandzhak intersection. He is in the Trauma Hospital in Tirana where he is still today with injuries to both legs and one ear. Toma was previously a municipal official, even convicted together with former mayor Fran Frrokaj for the lands on the coast.
