Democratic Party MP Luciano Boçi spoke about the situation created by the floods today. He said that only a few hours of rain in the Shkodra Region were enough for the Municipality of Vau i Dejës to be flooded.
Boçi stated that the country ended up in this situation as a result of irresponsibility, incompetence, mismanagement and corruption of local and central government.
He points out that Mayor Shkreli is justified in saying that the project has interfered with his embankments, while the government leaves the ball to the local government.
"It only took a few hours of seasonal rain in the Shkodra Region, Vau Dejës Municipality, to address the irresponsibility, incompetence, mismanagement and corruption of local and central government."
The Glina Stream has flooded hundreds of homes and is endangering people's lives, not according to the excuse that "nature is attacking", but according to the reality that no precautionary investment measures have been taken to protect itself.
Mayor Shkreli is justified in saying that the project has interfered with his embankments, and has not received the green light from Rama in 5 years.
Meanwhile, the government has left the ball in the hands of local governments. The latter squandered its funds on campaigning with unjustified work on the electoral road and is now left with its eyes fixed on the sky.
In addition, the bed may have been allowed to be "hands-free" for profit and votes from both powers.
Therefore, it is this irresponsible situation by the authorities that risks, if it is to recover, turning into a catastrophe. The consequences of corruption always fall on the citizens. Emergency interventions for the worst, must be without delay and with the appropriate capacities.
"Those responsible cannot be blamed with excuses and shrugging their shoulders ," Boçi writes.
