Tensions in DP are getting worse every day. The elections for the mayor have increased the differences and one of those who has come out against it is Agron Gjekmarkaj.
Commenting on the attitude of Gazment Bardhi, Gjekmarkaj says that he appreciates it and according to him this is the position of a man who stands between the parties and who expects the DP to take on a constitutional and institutional color.
Gjekmarkaj has warned that if autumn finds the party in this state, it will suffer defeat in the parliamentary elections of 2025.
"I am glad that Mr. Bardhi and others have approached, this has been my position for a year and I support him in this position and I congratulate him for resisting even for a fair process within that party that is left, but which is impossible to do a fair process in a thing destroyed by time and people's anger and frustration. I appreciate it very much as a position if you continue to hold it. It is the position of a man who sits between the parties and waits for the DP group to grow and function as such, and for the opposition to start taking on a constitutional and institutional color.
The issue is where this PD will lead, I see it as a positive movement and an effort that should be supported in the hope that it will be understood by others, but the hope cannot continue without end because if autumn finds the PD in this state, we go towards 2025 losing ground and I think we face a defeat where we won't even be able to cry because no one will listen to us anymore.
If there is no will, the PD will be damaged more and will be less hopeful for the electorate. This is the right way to destroy the PD", said Gjekmarkaj for 'News 24'.
