The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, today hosted a group of Diaspora activists from 11 different US states, representatives of the organizations GERMIN and Global Albanians Foundation (GAF).
This meeting, held on the eve of the November holidays, carries a significant symbolism for strengthening ties with the Diaspora, whose role is an important part of the Head of State's agenda.
While sharing with the participants his impressions from meetings with Albanians living abroad, whom he met during official visits, President Begaj praised their joint activity for the preservation of language and identity and the connection to origin.
The Head of State reconfirmed in this meeting his position that the Diaspora remains one of the most important pillars of the Albanian nation in politics, culture, economy and identity.
While learning about the results of the OriginAL program, which aims to connect young people of the Diaspora with their homeland, President Begaj stated that young people are the ones who represent the next chapter of Albania-Diaspora relations.
"Every contribution of yours is welcome. You are the Albanian star that shines everywhere and you bring positive energy, expertise and more development opportunities to Albania," said the President of the Republic.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the participants for the assistance provided after the 2019 earthquake in Albania and during the pandemic. He also congratulated them for the donations they make to non-profit associations in Albania, Kosovo, and other countries in the region where Albanians reside.
The President of the Republic encouraged Diaspora activists to maintain contact with each other, to exchange visits, and to contribute in any way they can.
