The President of Kosovo, the new US-Germany battlefield!
Vjosa Osmani and Albin Kurti /

Washington's silent message, Kurti's sudden move, and the US-Germany clash unfolding over Kosovo's territory...

Donald Trump's letter to Vjosa Osmani, where in all likelihood the US president only signed without reading it at all, was not a simple gesture of courtesy.

That White House document was clearly a call to arms for the "Vjosa soldier," as the latter was endlessly spoiled by the "orange man" and the American imperial suite, who never stop repeating that there is no 'free lunch' in this world.

The White House letter was sent to Vjosa Osmani on the day of her departure from the office of President of Kosovo, with a clear orientation: for her to be the leader of the opposition to remove Albin Kurti.

Albini, on the other hand, did not run Vjosa Osmani, even though ultimately, as president, she would not disrupt the large majority of Vetëvendosje and his government.

Despite the problems or controversies during the government, a third term for Albin Kurti seemed certain, even with the opposition in the Presidency, which beyond the noise would not produce any real effect. In a way, a situation similar to that of Ilir Meta, who with his fragmented opposition gave Edi Rama two more terms.

But Albin Kurti overturned the political success of December, where he received more votes than in 2021, having all the power to govern and pass the laws he wanted, by taking the country to elections. Under these conditions, with one more opponent like Vjosa Osmani, victory is no longer so certain.

Is Albin Kurti so irresponsible as to seek to provoke his own adrenaline? Logically, there is no reason. Politics works on dialectics, numbers, alliances and conjuncture.

In this context, the question arises: was Kurti forced to make this move? And if so, by whom? By those who brought him to power, and even returned him after he faced pressure during Donald Trump's first term, namely by the Germans.

The latter, in Kosovo, have been developing an experimental ground for a silent, but real, clash with the United States of America for years.

This battle did not begin with Trump's arrival in the White House, but came to light as a result of his direct and often theatrical style and performance.

It was the Germans who influenced the removal and subsequent trial of Hashim Thaçi, who continues to be held in The Hague. They also decided that Vjosa Osmani did not deserve their support when she went public and demanded the release of the KLA leaders.

This is the real battle that has become visible and strong in Kosovo, but which has unfortunately caused serious consequences for the country, also due to Germany's double standards.

Berlin has not given Albin Kurti's government the reward it expected for its loyalty; either in the process of European integration or in direct financial support. This, it seems, is related to the need to keep relations with Serbia balanced, where interests are more direct, from geopolitics to rare minerals.

In reality, this status quo is tiring Kosovo. But, as in any other case, the great powers consider these as side effects.

Perhaps we are facing a larger development, where Kosovo has little room to maneuver. However, this needs to be talked about and discussed. So far, both the political and media classes have treated this as a clash between local actors, who are in fact just puppets of the big players.

Kosovo today resembles a 'Battle of Kosovo'-type battle, where in essence it was not simply the Ottoman Empire clashing with several Balkan princes, but the East with the West.

Not coincidentally, Murat I and Lazar Hrebeljanović were killed in that battle. The real winners turned out to be Vuk Branković and Bayezid I, Murat's son, who married Mara, Branković's daughter.

Later, this figure influenced the formation of Mehmed II, who would end the Roman Empire with the conquest of Constantinople.

It is no coincidence that relations between Serbia and Turkey not only did not deteriorate, but have often remained functional and pragmatic./ Pamphlet
