The investigation into the bomb near Sigfrido Ranuç's apartment is focusing on Albanian drug trafficking networks and their connections to the political world in Tirana; a development that is expected to turn into the most serious case involving names from crime and power in Albania...

For three days, the most important Italian media outlets have been publishing articles and new details on the investigations of anti-mafia authorities regarding the bomb attack on renowned journalist Sigfrido Ranucci, host of the investigative show Report on RAI 3.

According to official investigation sources, the Albanian track is currently the main line of investigation and is considered the most likely.

Initial reports state that an Albanian citizen has been arrested, while the anti-mafia prosecution has prepared several other arrest warrants and searches that are expected to be executed in the coming days.

However, in addition to the Albanian track, authorities are also investigating possible links to the football "ultras" mafia, violent fan groups that have for years established links with drug trafficking networks and extremist political organizations.

But the question that arises is: why is the Albanian track considered the strongest and most reliable?

The renowned journalist of La Repubblica, Marco Carta, one of the most specialized reporters in criminal chronicles and anti-mafia investigations, mentions in his analysis a “dangerous intersection” that may have alarmed Italian investigators. He refers to the relationship between a well-known name in the Albanian underworld, Artur Shehu, and a former Italian soldier with connections to the secret services, General Fabrizio Lisi.

According to La Repubblica, Lisi has purchased land in Albania from Artur Shehu, known as one of the most powerful businessmen in Vlora and connected to large drug trafficking networks.

This connection, according to Italian experts, raises serious suspicions of a combination of interests between mafia structures and security elements, a combination that in the history of Italy has always produced serious events.

Another element that has pushed Italian investigators towards the Albanian track is the fact that the show Report had conducted an in-depth investigation over the past year into Albanian criminal networks involved in the management of the migrant centers in Shëngjin and Gjadra.

According to Report's sources, some of these structures were linked to businesses close to the Albanian government, including companies that had received public funds and dubious contracts.

According to new information, Sigfrido Ranuçi had planned to deepen the investigation into the links between Albanian drug trafficking and politics in Tirana, including investments in tourism, construction and energy, in the new television season.

Report journalists had discovered concrete evidence pointing to the transfer of criminal capital into the solar energy sector, one of the areas most funded by the Albanian government in recent years.

If these investments turn out to be linked to drug trafficking networks, Report's investigation may have hit very powerful interests in Albania and beyond, a possible reason for the organized attack on the journalist.

The mere public mention of the “Albanian runway” by the anti-mafia prosecution is a shock to Edi Rama’s government. Indirectly, Italy is sending a signal to Tirana that the links between crime and power can no longer be covered up with political rhetoric.

If the Albanian trail is confirmed, this investigation will become an international dossier that could have serious diplomatic and political consequences for Albania. For now, only one thing is clear: the assassination of journalist Sigfrido Ranuçi was not an ordinary criminal act, but a dark warning connected to big interests, dirty money and power./ Pamphlet
