The Socialist Party will convene this Sunday the National Assembly, where the focus of the meeting will be the 2025 parliamentary elections as well as the reorganization of the party's structures.
About 400 members of the assembly, Rama himself, ministers and deputies will gather at 11:00 a.m. in a restaurant on the outskirts of Tirana. For members of the Assembly, participation in this meeting is mandatory and absences will be considered unjustified.
The focus will be on the reporting of the tasks left at the Congress of the Socialist Party on December 8, where Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the spring of 2024 will find the Socialist Party with new structures.
The meeting comes at a time when tensions in the parliament and with the opposition have increased, while the latter has also started protests and has announced the escalation of the action.
However, the political scene in the country is not finding peace even within the majority, especially after an interview given by former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, where he mentions a good part of ministers and former ministers, officials and deputies of the Socialist Party, as being involved in various affairs and scenarios within the SP.
We recall that in the National Assembly that was held in July 2023, there was a round where Rama dismissed the General Secretary, then Damian Gjiknuri, and the entire party secretariat.
