Prime Minister Edi Rama has called on the Serbian authorities to release the 3 Kosovo Police officers, arrested a few days ago.
In a joint conference with his Hungarian counterpart, Viktor Orban, Rama said that the three policemen did not commit any crime and added that even if they had crossed the border line, they could have simply turned back without taking such measures.
" First, there is an immediate need and necessity for the three Kosovo police officers to return home. Beyond the claims that they were captured here or entered there, or were captured somewhere, for which KFOR will not give a public conclusion but will file the relevant file in NATO, it is absolutely clear that in all cases the three officers did not no crime. Even if we were to assume that they crossed the border line, there is only one answer, their return home" - said Rama.
Regarding the more tense situation between Kosovo and Serbia, Rama said that the Euro-Atlantic community has offered a common solution that will put an end to the clashes once and for all and will ensure the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia as well. He said that the agreement offered on the table by the internationals is an opportunity that may not be repeated in the future.
"Mrthe common thread is the solution offered by the Euro-Atlantic community with very clear and immovable points for de-escalation. What is most important to our interest is that peace is on the table. The agreement document is on the table and the historic opportunity is on the table to close a long and painful chapter and open a new chapter to make Kosovo recognized by Serbia. This moment is so important that all these others are the product of an entirely unnecessary diversion of focus. The focus is to make the ultimate peace on the table. Today, the Euro-Atlantic community has given Kosovo a golden opportunity, the EU and US proposal is the best thing that can happen to Kosovo. I can say with all my heart that that deal on the table and this golden opportunity at this moment,"- said the head of the executive.
Rama added that the other actions undertaken contrary to the suggestions of the internationals, serve as exaltation for people who, according to him, waste their time with imaginary wars.
" Others can be exaltation pills for those who identify themselves as patriots in imaginary wars, but they bring nothing but the loss of time and opportunity, " he emphasized.
