Prime Minister Edi Rama this Monday, at an event titled "With Farmers in Albania 2030", spoke about the challenges of Albania's agricultural sector towards the EU.
During his speech, Rama emphasized the importance of cooperation between the government and farmers in facing the challenges of the European market.
"Negotiations with the EU and the accession agreement are not words or processes simply related to what we write on paper, but very complex state contracts, where every factor must respond to the contract. The contract for agriculture is the most difficult, as the experience of other countries has shown," said Rama.
Following the opening of Chapter 5 Group at the 7th Intergovernmental Conference, a new phase opens for Albanian agriculture, with chapters 11, 12 and 13 at the center of reforms towards the European Union.
During his speech at the meeting with farmers, Rama emphasized that Albanian products are now exported to 80 countries around the world.
"Exports were simply the activity of a handful of farmers who had made it this far, and the trade deficit was a unique catastrophe in the region, because we are not even talking about euros to make comparisons. For every euro exported, we imported 9 euros in food, while today our products go to 80 countries around the world and experts have exceeded half a billion euros, and meanwhile the deficit from 1 to 9 has decreased to 1 to 3, and our effort is to go to 1 to 2," said Rama.
